The Steve Huff Memorial Foundation Closes the Year on a High Note:
Steve Huff Named to 2028 Motorsports Hall of Fame of America Ballot
Salem, Oregon – The Steve Huff Memorial Foundation is honored to announce that Steve Huff will be included on the official ballot for the Class of 2028 induction into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America (MSHFA).
Due to the 2027 class ballots already being in active voting this year, Steve's nomination has been placed on the Class of 2028 ballot, ensuring that his legacy and achievements are reviewed with the attention and respect they merit.
This recognition follows months of collaboration between the Foundation and the Hall of Fame Museum, dedicated to preserving and promoting the legacy of outstanding contributors to the world of motorsports. The Foundation is deeply proud that Steve's lifelong accomplishments—spanning innovation, competition, and leadership—will now be considered for one of the highest honors in American motorsport.
"Having Steve's name appear on the ballot for the Class of 2028 is an incredible acknowledgment of his groundbreaking work and dedication," said Thomas Huff, Executive Director of the Steve Huff Memorial Foundation. "He was not only a racer and world record holder but an inventor, pioneer, and inspiration to countless others who continue to chase the limits of what's possible."
Steve Huff's career journey was defined by fearless exploration across the spectrum of motorsports—from motorcycles to drag racing to electric vehicle technology. He made history as the first in the world to pilot an electric dragster to over 200 mph in the quarter mile, setting a performance benchmark that represented both innovation and environmental progress within racing.
Known for his creativity, mechanical genius, and generous mentorship, Steve's influence extended far beyond the track. Through his team's efforts, he championed sustainable innovation and inspired a new generation to bring passion and purpose together under the banner of speed and science.
The Foundation was formed to continue that mission—advancing educational and technical opportunities for young builders, racers, and engineers while preserving Steve's story for future generations.
"This nomination is more than recognition—it's a celebration of Steve's lasting impact on motorsports and the values he stood for," Thomas Huff added. "We hope he'll be welcomed as a first-round inductee, but above all, we're proud to see his vision honored on a national stage."
The Motorsports Hall of Fame of America, based at the Daytona International Speedway, recognizes individuals from every discipline of motorsports who have demonstrated exceptional achievement and innovation. Each year, only a select group of nominees appears on the ballot, representing the highest level of distinction within the sport.
As the Foundation looks forward to the new year, this announcement marks a deeply meaningful achievement and a reminder of the continued momentum behind honoring Steve's extraordinary legacy.
